    Soap Dispensers

Soap dispensers are devices that are prevalent in public restrooms and offices but are easy to overlook. Depending on your preference, they can be affordable, stylish, and hygienic or potentially all three. So how did this device come to be?

Minnetonka Corporation introduced this after liquid soap was patented by William Shepphard in 1865. But before that, ancient Babylonians had soap-like material in clay cylinders giving proof that soap was introduced as early as 2800 B.C. To this day, it can be used manually or automatically. The automatic dispenser was patented in 1989 and was invented by Guy-Chuan Shiau. One of the most widely used sources of soap dispensers today is Bobrick.

According to the CDC, washing your hands for twenty seconds or more is an important step to take in order to avoid spreading germs to others and getting sick. This step prevents the spread of infections and illnesses that come from the spreading of harmful bacteria. This is why many dispensers are accessible in public areas. Here are some of the benefits of dispensers.

    • Hygienic

A soap dispenser does not need a lot of maintenance because it can accumulate more soap and just be refilled unlike bars of soap. This device reduces bacteria and germs in between each use. It keeps a stable place which means that it does not slide around as bar soap does.

    • Protective

The liquid soap container acts as a barrier. It prevents cross-contamination, unlike bar soaps that are handled by countless people or are in a dirty environment. It can protect the soap from a change in climate, hazardous chemicals, and infection.

    • Cost-Effective

It can save on expenses because there are different kinds of dispensers. It can work with any budget. Being that you can control the amount of soap you use, it will take some time to use up all the soap. This then is a cost-effective way to use soap because it does not break down as easily as a regular bar soap does. There are also different soap brands to choose from depending on your budget. Just refilling the liquid is quicker and more convenient.

There is a variety of dispensers to choose from. These are often seen in public restrooms. They can either be used manually by using a little pump or automatically via sensors. Those are the two types of dispensers. However, there are five types of manual dispensers and two types of automatic dispensers.

Manual dispensers are the ones where you push a button for it to dispense soap. It is very low maintenance and traditional because it does not need any batteries.

    1. Bag-in-Box: a simple and convenient design that effectively uses the area inside which doesn’t waste products. It is usually in restrooms and kitchens. It makes use of liquid soap.

    2. Cartridge: usually in hospitals and other healthcare industries that also be used in kitchens and bathrooms, it has a large capacity which entails less refilling. The cartridge can be refilled with liquid soap, sanitizer, or shampoos.

    3. Foaming: a more high-end option that is good for hotel and restaurant restrooms and it makes use of foaming soaps and sanitizers.

    4. Refillable: an economical option with a large capacity which is ideal for industrial work sites

    5. Counter Mount: it makes use of bulk liquid or foaming soap that’s designed for kitchen and restroom countertops.

    6. Automatic Dispensers: good for reducing the risk of cross-contamination because they have touchless activation.

    7. Wall Mount: uses bulk liquid or foaming soap that is ideal for restrooms and kitchens.

    8. Automatic Counter Mount: for the same use as the manual types but it is automatic.

These soap dispensers are used in larger establishments as cleanliness is a top priority for them.
